In Defense
I read fan fiction. I read slash as well as hetero. I don't like smut. That being said I have a few opinions I want to share. When an author creates characters that are interesting and fun, then sidelines them for characters some may find annoying, some fans get frustrated. They want to read about their favorite characters. This leads to fan fiction. Fan fiction is an outlet for some writers who have trouble coming up with characters but not stories. Others just want more of their favorite characters. Some get their start with such fiction and go on to write original stories that get published. It is not easy to write, and there are 100 bad fics for every good one. I am only talking about the good ones. On to slash. I am a fan of Remus/Sirius. I love both of the characters and I prefer Marauders era stories. It isn't as apocalyptic as the canon current stuff, and I also feel that current stories conflict with J.K.'s writing. The other charters we are given for the time are limited, and so provide limited chances for what a lot of readers like, romance. Almost all original characters come off Mary-Sue-ish. I have never read one I liked. So consider the five main characters we have for this time: Sirius, James, Remus, Peter, and Lily. I have read some good Remus/Lily stuff, but I never quite sat well with that pairing, believing whole heartedly in James/Lily. For this same reason I do not like any other paring involving James. Remus is my character. He is the bookish underdog character. He is not charming or dashing and most likely gets overlooked often. This is the character I identify with. Then you have Sirius. He is dashing and charming and just the type of guy I would probably, and do, have a crush on. If he were paired with a girl, most likely I would spend the entire time comparing myself to her. I can't help it. I would think I could never get a guy like that. Slash is safe. Remus has “charmed” Sirius based on character alone, just by being himself. It is the ultimate fairy tale story, with conflict built right in. Fans of angst love this paring. I agree with most people who think this paring is far fetched. Then again, before the last book I thought Remus/Tonks was outlandish. I do not know what J.K. thinks of this, but after reading her attempt at romance (hey, no writer is perfect in all areas), I really have to look outside. So love my pairing or hate it, just don't judge me based on it. It is a guilty pleasure and you wouldn't judge me on the fact that I still listen to my N*SYNC CD's from time to time, would you?
P.S. I don't read Firefly fan fiction. That just can't end well. |

Somone of quetstion club just posted the questions 1) If you could meet one person from LJ who would it be? 2)What dead person would you want to talk to if you could(no zombies) 3)If you could have a Do-Over in your life, what would it be?
Then, after I had typed out my heartfelt answer, it told me the entry had been deleted. I guess because they are common questions that have been asked before, but I really wanted to answer, so this is my bo-yah.
1)Does Frank J of PostSecret count?(He does have an LJ) 2) A dead person I would talk to, if I could, would be Shakespeare, only because a friend and I are in disagreement on something in Othello, and I want to know what the great bard thought. But I also wish I could talk to queen Elizabeth the First, so I'm glad I don't have to make that decision. If I could talk to anyone, pets included, I would want to ask my pet rat Beatrice if there was anything I could have done, or if she would have died of kidney failure anyway. And was she in pain. 3)When I screwed up and lost a relly great job. In retrospect everything worked out for the best in the job arena, but I lost a friend and idol, and I don't know if I will ever not feel guilt when I see her. I can't even talk to her.
Looking at my answers, I realize I feel alot of guilt. |

mood: sleepy music: The Only Difference Between...By Panic! at the Disco
|
To all the no people who don't read my LJ:
Is Panic! at the Disco a "kewl" band? Cause I really like them but I hate to be a scene kid. eck. Wow. I am shallow.
On a less deppresing note, I saw My Super Ex-Girlfrend yesterday and loved it. I would love to see more G-Girl Stuff just cause she is a cool super hero and Gucci(sp?) costumes (suprisingly) rock my socks. Eddie Izzard playing the geeky kid turned evil mastermind was great. Luke Wilson's preformance was the only thing I didn't like. It was really flat and his charachters jokes were stupid. Eddie, Uma, and all the other cast members were great, especially the girl who played Hannah.
I just love G-Girl though! |

I'm not sure why it would scare you, but I'm making this up as I go along. It has some harsh words, but seeing as noone reads my blog, I figure WTF.

I do think Gertude witnessed Ophelia's death, but the great thing about the play is we can never know weather she killed herself. I think Gerturde said it as it happened.
So did she realize what was happening to her as she floated along, her clothes steadily growing heaver as the soaked up the water until she sank? ("Her clothes spread wide; And, mermaid-like, awhile they bore her up: Which time she chanted snatches of old tunes; As one incapable of her own distress, Or like a creature native and indued Unto that element: but long it could not be Till that her garments, heavy with their drink, Pull'd the poor wretch from her melodious lay To muddy death."
Or as one of the grave diggers says: "Here lies the water; good: here stands the man; good; if the man go to this water, and drown himself, it is, will he, nill he, he goes,--mark you that; but if the water come to him and drown him, he drowns not himself: argal, he that is not guilty of his own death shortens not his own life."
He says that simnply by going to the water (overextending herself on a weak branch and falling in) she committed sucide.
So the real question is was she sane enough to know of her own impending doom, or did she not even ralize that through her own inaction she was killing herself |

Awww... I'm sad. I looked on LJ and while there are plenty of Dukes of Hazzard fans, not one of them can make icons. Oh, lemme back up. About 2 or 3 months ago I saw a show my dad was watching about the top 10 best TV cars ever (BATMOBILE WAS NUMBER ONE BABY!)and one of them was the General Lee, the car from the 80's show Dukes of Hazzard. So when my TiVo picked up a couple episodes as suggestions, I decided, what the heck, and watched them. I was hooked. I have been a fan ever since. So today I was reading the Wikipedia article on DOH and thought that it would be cool to have a Bo Duke (the one I think is cute) Icon on hand ya know in case... And lo and behold. There are none. I don't just mean a few crappy ones, I can't find one. |

1) Sally forth to Fanfiction.net. Gird thy loins. Plunge in. ::laughing:: Homestar team does LOTR! I have only read the prologue, but the idea is amusing. (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2203156/1/) OMFG! IT BURNS! ZIM/GAZ?1? AHHHHHH!!!!!11ONE11!! THE BIBLE HAS FANFICTION?!? Jesus gets amnesia?!? wtf?!? Why, oh God, Why, did I ever like this place? lol! Act1 Scene1 of Julius Caesar as a bank robbery, its so horrible its funny! (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2153180/1/)
2) Choose a fandom you know nothing about aside from the name, which has at least ten fics listed. OK I finally settled on the book K-PAX. I wanted to see the movie when it came out but didn't, and other than one of the main characters thinks he is an alien/is an alien, I know nothing about it. 3) Read only the first page of story summaries. am I the only person who gets sick of cross-overs?
4) Using what you have learned from these summaries, describe what this fandom is about. Some guy named Prot "{rhymes with goat, not hot}" is an alien, talks to astronomers a Dr. Brewer and "Roman" (I don't know if that is his real name or what...). Lived in NYC before he was rescued (from a bad fanfic, I'm guessing). And gets it on with Mark. And a undescribe female in the Middle East, man this guy gets all the love... O.o... the next summary was "prots relationhip with a white horse, a little boy and a small town farm family" Robert lives in a small town and sees Prot for no reason, and is healed quickly in the second book. And someone else named Gene was mentioned once, so it may be a stu. Ok so basically this prot guy (I think it is purposely spelled lower case) is either an alien sybiote to Rob, or a voice in his head.
Wow, that was fun. Partially cause it made no sense, and partially because I got to look at parts of ff.net that I was not aware of. You should check out the Bible fanfics, they will either make you laugh until you cry or stab your eyes out. Either way fluid will come from your eye! O.o9 |
